COUNSELLING & HOLISTIC THERAPIES

Welcome

An embodied approach to healing

Welcome, and thank you for visiting. My name is Julie and I am an integrative therapist based in Monmouth, within easy reach of Forest of Dean, Redbrook, Usk, Abergavenny, Chepstow, Wye Valley and Ross-on-Wye.

An embodied approach to healing

When life starts to feel as though it's spinning out of control, this is often a warning sign to seek support. You might suffer from increased anxiety, depression, lack of motivation or constantly feel that you aren't good enough or worthy of being loved. Sometimes we become so focused on living up to the expectations of others, that we can lose sight of who we really are. It gets harder to function effectively, relationships start to break down or we enter a mode of existing rather than living life to its full potential.

I believe that every individual has the ability to realise their true potential - sometimes they just need the right guidance and support to tap into their inner wisdom. You know yourself better than anyone and I see my role as working with you to empower you to rediscover your sense of self and your unique capabilities. I offer a non-judgemental, safe space in which you can explore what is troubling you.

Clients have the choice of room-based, telephone or online counselling; a combination of counselling, Reiki and sound healing; walk-and-talk therapy or therapy with horses.

I have experience working with adults and young people with a diverse range of problems. As a fully-qualified counsellor I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and abide by their code of ethics.

Taking the first step

Deciding to take responsibility for your healing is the first major step on your path towards self-actualisation. I feel honoured when someone invites me to share that journey with them. My approach to counselling is based on an implicit agreement of mutual respect and a commitment to a process of discovery, vulnerability, and empowerment.

Working together

I honour the wisdom of intuition and support individuals to rediscover their self-knowledge and to build the confidence to set healthy boundaries and establish lasting relationships.

A holistic approach

I believe that our minds, bodies and souls are all connected and so I adopt a holistic approach which can combine energy healing through Reiki and sound, as well as the somatic experience of equine interactions. My close relationship with the natural world informs my work and invites us to examine what we have lost through our disconnection with the self and other living beings.

What issues can counselling help with?

I use a combination of therapeutic approaches to work with clients who are dealing with:

Anxiety

Depression

Trauma

Low self-esteem

Relationship problems

Difficulties regulating emotions

Grief

Menopause

Self-identity

Domestic abuse

Suicidal ideation

Therapy with horses

Through my personal experience, I am aware that some people may find traditional therapy intimidating, This is where I feel equine-assisted therapy can make a huge difference. Something very special happens when you talk to a horse, or just sit still in their presence. I often struggle to explain what that is, but when people are able to truly open themselves to the experience, they can sense the magic. It has the potential to bring about shifts where someone is feeling stuck and to unearth deeply buried emotions. Horses are also powerful teachers when it comes to managing anxiety, regulating emotions and setting boundaries.

Whatever you feel you are needing right now, I will help you to tune into that need and explore ways to manage the waves, negotiate the hurdles and seek out moments of calm. For more information about Therapy with Horses, please visit: www.therapywithhorses.co.uk
